Rules of Engagement for Readers

1. The Fenceposts blog was created for conversations. We encourage you to be open, be honest and most importantly – be yourself. We’ll do the same. Our goal is to allow for conversations between you and us, and you and your peers.

2. The Fenceposts blog is all about rural property and living in the country. Farm Credit employees and other country living experts will post on a range of topics related to finding, financing and getting the most out of rural property. We will not post any comments unrelated to the conversation. This blog is a place where we can all learn from each other, and we hope you’ll share your own ideas and questions. Customer service requests will be referred to the appropriate Farm Credit contact.

3. You should always be respectful and ethical, no matter what the situation. Civil dialogue is expected from everyone involved in conversations on this blog – think of it as dinner conversation with friends and family. We will not post any comments if they are spam, inappropriate, profane or are defamatory in any way. Additionally, we will not post copyrighted material.

Our Commitments

1. We will listen and respond. This blog was created to encourage conversations, so we hope you’ll leave comments. Comments will be moderated, and we will do our best to post your comments and respond, where appropriate, within 24 hours.

2. Think straight, talk straight. We will think before we post and we’ll strive to have good judgment in all blog interactions.

3. Sometimes we may be quiet. There are some topics we just can’t discuss on the Fenceposts blog – just as we don’t in other communication channels. Posting on sensitive political, legal and financial matters, as well as topics unrelated to rural property and living, will not happen here.

4. Our corporate values and policies will guide what we say. As per our Code of Conduct, we are committed to acting in a professional and ethical manner in all situations. All of the posts on the Fenceposts blog will follow these same guidelines.

5. We are committed to your privacy. Your privacy will be respected. Any customer information collected on the Fenceposts blog will only be used to provide the service(s) or carry out the transaction(s) you have requested or authorized. The Fenceposts blog will operate in compliance with Farm Credit’s Online Policies.

Farm Credit reserves the right to amend or change this doctrine at any time. You are invited to check back periodically to ensure you are in compliance. Thanks for visiting the Fenceposts blog. (Updated: August 2008)
