Seed balls are simply seeds that are mixed with equal parts of compost and clay, moistened with water, formed into small balls, and allowed to dry. When the time is right (usually in September or October in most parts of the country), the seed balls are scattered on the ground—not planted. Mother Nature takes it from there.
